Fine Wines in the Lagoon

In our quest of vineyards in Venice we arrived to Tenuta Venissa in the island of Mazzorbo (next to Burano in the northern part of the Lagoon) where the Bisol family rents from the Municipality a small estate with a vineyard (1ha) growing the local white variety Dorona. Visitors can enjoy the Osteria Contemporanea, the Ristorante (1 Michelin Star), and the Wine Resort with 6 rooms. An attraction in the vineyard is the Bell Tower with ancient bell from the 14th century.

With Matteo Bisol we tasted the Venissa Bianco Veneto IGT 2017 (140 € 50 cl) and the harmonious Venissa Bianco 2015, both persistent with good structure and pleasant acidity. The entry-level Venusa Dorona IGT 2018 is sold for 50 € (75 cl). We tasted also the reds: Venissa Rosso Veneto IGT 2015 (50 cl 140 €), a soft blend of Merlot & Cabernet, and Venusa Rosso Veneto IGT 2016 (75 cl 50 €), both spicy with good balance. We finished with Questo Neanche, Glera Colfondo Colli Trevigiani IGT 2020 unfiltered, Maeli Dilì Moscato Giallo Frizzante IGT 2020 (Pet Nat) and Maeli Bianco Moscato Giallo IGT 2018 secco.
